This San Francisco penthouse serves as the weekend retreat for a couple based in Palo Alto. The empty-nesters bought the 1960's Pied de Terre in 2016 and hired designer Isolina Mallon for the interiors. Mallon infused the contemporary space with her modern style.

Located at the top of Pacific Heights, the penthouse features dynamic views of The Golden Gate and Alcatraz. Panoramic double-high windows open the apartment to the cityscape and bring a significant amount of natural light into the interiors. Mallon seamlessly mixed her clients' taste with the apartment's architecture. Taking her cue from the homeowners' art collection, the designer adjusted the design and colors of the Italian furnishings and accessories.

Details

Highlights being the Soft Dream sectional, designed by Antonio Citterio for Flexform, creates an inviting living to enjoy the views and the natural light, paired with La Mise armchair by Poltrona Frau, upholstered in blue velvet. The rug custom-designed for the project by Isolina Mallon and produced by Scott Group Studio grounds the space.

In the master bedroom, the peacock colored mural wallpaper mixes with the minimalistic silhouette of the Lifesteel Bed designed by Antonio Citterio from Flexform. The master bathroom features a dark blue metalized paint. Due to its composition of unique metallic pigments, Ottocento paint reproduces the traditional effect of a velvet tapestry.
